  • Create a common understanding between manager and direct report relating to role, responsibilities, and the context around current workflow.

  • Understand the differences in perspective between a manager and a direct report.

  • Check-in on the employee to create situational awareness on the part of the manager.

 

In today’s workplace, where more is expected of the employee than simply carrying out the manager’s instructions, it’s crucial for both the manager and the employee to have a similar understanding of what’s happening. That they have the same perspective or frame from which to view work tasks.
