There are times when managers need to communicate messages to their teams or individuals in their teams that will not be popular. In some cases, the manager may only be the mouthpiece of senior management. In other cases, this may be team-specific. Whatever the reason, the manager needs to be able to deliver the message in a way that is clear, but also in a way that does not demotivate or affect performance in the longer term.
