Leaders Dare to Try, Manage the Risk when they innovate and maintain open-minded environments in which it is safe to fail, learn, and change together. "Recall what the world was like 10 years ago. How was work completed? What were the most pressing topics impacting you? Many times, change occurs without perfect knowledge of the results it brings. However, we can be certain that if we work like we did yesterday, we will not meet the demands of tomorrow. The world changes, we have to change with it. Sensibly. Leaders are responsible for providing the right environment for testing and learning, while managing consequences. We can learn just as much from small experiments with limited consequences as we can from large-scale upheavals with significant risk. Wise decisions rely on our ability to balance innovation against reasonable consequences. There may not be a road map for choosing the right level of risk, but to fail to change and learn at all is a greater risk. If we stand still, we become irrelevant.
